This activity is now closed but information below relating to hepatitis C testing and treatment are still relevant.

On 28 June 2022, a Viral Hepatitis Nurse from SA Health visited Port Pirie to provide rapid hepatitis C testing. This special drop-in clinic was open from 10am to 4pm at the Port Pirie GP Plus Health Care Centre, 50 Gertrude St. Bookings are recommended but not required. Results were available in an hour and delivered via a phone call where preferred.

Hepatitis SA provides confidential support for people affected by viral hepatitis, including a telephone information and support line, face-to-face information sessions and regular support groups at Port Adelaide and Hackney.

Hepatitis SA delivers free hepatitis B and hepatitis C education to South Australians who:

  • come from communities at risk of viral hepatitis
  • work with people affected by hepatitis and related issues
  • come from, or work with, communities from regions of high hepatitis B prevalence
  • want to know more about their duty of care as an employer regarding hepatitis
  • wish to raise the awareness of hepatitis in their communities such as sporting clubs and workplaces

Our educators have up-to-date knowledge about hepatitis, testing, treatment options and related issues. Our teams also include peer educators who have personal experiences relevant to their client groups.
