{"id":329,"date":"2024-02-02T11:47:04","date_gmt":"2024-02-02T02:17:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hepatitissa.asn.au\/magazine-dev\/?p=329"},"modified":"2024-10-23T00:55:38","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T15:25:38","slug":"sapol-education","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hepatitissa.asn.au\/communitynews\/2024\/02\/sapol-education\/","title":{"rendered":"SAPOL Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hepatitissa.asn.au\/magazine-dev\/wp-admin\/edit.php?post_type=post\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\">The Hepatitis SA Education Team has successfully negotiated with the South Australian Police (SAPOL) Training &amp; Development branch to deliver ongoing blood safety and viral hepatitis training and education sessions to all operational SAPOL personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">In the past Hepatitis SA Education Team have delivered training &amp; education to SAPOL, but this has always been a little ad hoc, with no set times, locations, time frames or even standard length of the education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">This will all change with the new \u2018Blood Safety &amp; Viral Hepatitis\u2019 education program. These sessions will have a SAPOL Health Safety &amp; Welfare code attached, with the sessions having an operational focus with key messages and being SAPOL-compliant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Some of the key messages that will be discussed include understanding hepatitis, blood-borne viruses, vaccinations, treatments and transmission risks. As an operational police officer what do you do if you have received a needlestick injury, or had a blood exposure? What even constitutes an exposure? Who do you notify? What about blood on your clothing? Myths about viral hepatitis will also be discussed and dispelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\" style=\"padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0\">We are hoping to commence this training early in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hepatitissa.asn.au\/communitynews\/2024\/10\/training-breakthrough-with-sapol\/\">Read the latest on this
