New research have shown that the hepatitis C virus is extremely good at mutating in response to anti-viral drugs and developing resistance to them. This is a growing issue for direct-acting antivirals (DAAs) which have had phenomenal success in treating hepatitis C, curing 95 per cent of people who have been living with the virus.
